The Minnesota Timberwolves are generating a ton of traction from bettors for their Thursday night tilt with the Chicago Bulls as the 8.5-point favorites courtesy of BetMGM. 

This doesn’t stop on just the spread, though, as a Minnesota player prop for points and rebounds is also commanding a ton of attention for reigning Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert at -125, as well. 

Here’s how all of the betting action is currently laid out for Thursday’s slim schedule of games which also includes the Milwaukee Bucks taking on the visiting Utah Jazz and the Portland Trail Blazers visiting San Antonio to take on the Spurs.

Of the six teams competing on Thursday, the Timberwolves are far and away the most superior if only because they’re the lone squad of the six currently possessing a winning record, albeit at just 4-3 SU.

In taking on the Bulls who are 3-5 SU, even with a substantial 8.5-point spread in their favor, bettors are gravitating to Anthony Edwards and company and expecting a successful wager on the ATS market.

Even though Minnesota covered as 8.5-point betting favorites with a 9-14 record (39.1 percent rate) in 2023-24, they’re taking on a Chicago side that’s dropped three-straight games SU by eight or more points which helps its cause.

The Bulls rank second across the Association in rebounds at 48.6 per contest, but that’s not deterring bettors from taking a second look at “The Stifle Tower” for a potential payout with a combination points and rebounds player prop.

For what it’s worth, Gobert has only hit the OVER on 23.5 points and rebounds in three of his seven appearances this season with Minnesota, while also failing to do so in each of his last two outings. He’s still one of only 16 players averaging double-digit numbers on the glass, though, so that keeps this prop alive and well most nights as long as his shot is dropping.

Jerami Grant seems to be more of a gimme at just 3.5 rebounds, especially being a 6-foot-7 power forward playing 33.5 minutes per game. Then again, he’s only averaging 4.6 rebounds this season and four for his career, and he’ll be battling on the glass against 7-foot-4 behemoth Victor Wembanyama.

The biggest spread of the evening lands in the laps of the Bucks despite being a putrid 1-6 SU.

Over two-thirds of the money is being wagered in their favor, although more bets are taking the underdog Jazz to coverable what’s a pretty favorable spread, even though they’ve lost their last three games SU by 17 or more points.

The Jazz are the one underdog getting more than 50 percent of the bets, perhaps falling in line with Milwaukee’s struggles to kick off the campaign and a questionable status for Giannis Antetokounmpo, although he’s still expected to suit up.
